BEHIND THE SCENES
It's a Wonderful Life
In the "It's a Wonderful Life" scene where Uncle Billy drunkenly leaves the Bailey house, you hear a loud crash that sounds like he stumbled into some trash cans. What really happened is that a crew member accidentally dropped a tray of props just as Thomas Mitchell walked off-screen. James Stewart started laughing, and Mitchell quickly improvised, "I'm all right! I'm okay!"

Director Frank Capra loved the unexpected moment so much that he kept it in the movie and even gave the stagehand a $10 bonus for the accidental sound effect.
